What is responsible journalism? CNN. What is irresponsible, speculative and rumor filled journalism? CNN IBN, Times now, NDTV and the list goes on. So much of speculation led to confusing reports in different channels as there is no regulation in india. In many countries before you publish important political, large impact news on responsible news channels you’ve to be clear whether it is a prediction or confirmed report. If it is a prediction then you’ve to mention that it is an unconfirmed report but especially on the day of mumbai blasts the indian news channels reported totally false news on some occasions which was irresponsible. As there is a lot of competition between these channels they tend to get carried away in the heat of the moment and spread rumors. It was shocking to see that CNN IBN was reporting that 183 people were killed and CNN was reporting that according to the latest information from the government 160 were killed which clearly indicates that there are many loopholes in the press. It was also appaling to see these kid like journalists put cameras and mikes to the faces of tired and stressed out hostages who were released. The quality of indian news channels and journalism can be compared with papparazi journalism in america. In fact worse.
